Rain in this part of the world is something that creates quite a bit of excitment and over the last 10 days or so, we’ve had a lot of rain. Enough for all the wadis (dry valleys) to fill up and even create the ocasional waterfall.
We spent the weekend in Fujairah and if you’re familiar with the UAE geography, to get from Dubai to Fujairah, you essentially have to cross the Arabian peninsula from the Gulf to the Indian Ocean. The inland areas looked beautiful – dark colour sand in the desert and wadis full of water. Close to the city of Al Dhaid, we spotted a big crowd around what looked like a pretty big river and as we got closer we were treated to the view above.
It did remind me of a scene years ago in 2008 when some friends and I came across a very flooded wadi in Nizwa, Oman.
