I spent most of the day yesterday looking through my old images of Dubai as I am creating these new collections for the website. This effort was kickstarted by a recent group exhibition I participated in at the Noor Royal Gallery where I displayed a beautiful print of my “Blast from the past” image, a helicopter shot of a Burj Khalifa and Downtown area still under construction.
As you can imagine my retouching has gotten quite a lot better in the last fifteen years (not to mention the incredible progress in the Photoshop / Lightroom world) and I find it quite interesting to go back and redo some of the images I posted already to see if they could look better.
This was the case with the image above which I originally posted here under the name “Endless clouds”. I have now reworked the image, keeping it closer to how the day actually looked (for some reason in my initial retouch I went quite heavy with the warmer tones). An interesting thing about this image is that this view is not possible anymore to photograph as the entire area is now full of new, tall buildings, blocking the view of the Downtown boulevard.
